BDA Northern Ireland celebrates 90 years

by Guy Hiscott

The Northern Ireland branch of the British Dental Association (BDA) celebrates its 90th anniversary this year.
The BDA has designed a new logo to commemorate the anniversary, which will be used throughout 2013. The logo was unveiled last year at an event that saw BDA chief executive Peter Ward congratulate the incoming branch president, Dr Seamus Killough, on his elevation to the post.
Dr Killough said: The 90th anniversary is a significant milestone for the profession. 2013 will see us celebrating not just the BDA and its Northern Ireland branch, but dentistry and all the profession has achieved during the last 90 years. It is an honour to have been chosen to lead those celebrations as branch president.’
The Northern Ireland branch of the BDA was formed in January 1923 after the treaty signed by Britain and Ireland nullified the constitution of the then Irish branch of the association.
