Smile Hub Dental Clinic wins at the Irish Dentistry Awards

Julian English spoke to Laura Fee about how to be an effective leader and how she felt when Smile Hub Dental Clinic won at the Irish Dentistry Awards.

How did you do it?

My name is Dr Laura Fee and some people are curious about who I am and how I approach my work at Smile Hub Dental Clinic. I have had many experiences throughout my personal and professional life that have helped to make me an effective leader.

I’ve always been surrounded by people who challenge me to learn more, and I don’t believe in micro-management. Instead, I believe in empowering the team that you’re working with.

An organisation is nothing without a good team. It’s important to surround yourself with a team that you trust and people who aren’t frightened to disagree with you. It is really important to learn to listen to the information that you receive.

I always keep in my mind that I’m leading and not following.

I’ve been driven by my heart, my vision, my talent and my instinct. I never look at what people are doing to the left and right of me, which helps keep the clarity of my thoughts. I always own my decisions without apology. 

Smile Hub Dental Clinic won two Irish Dentistry Awards in 2022 for Best New Practice and Best Referral Practice.
