Dental company hosts golf day for dentists
by Guy Hiscott
Dentists and colleagues joined Southern Cross Dental on 25 April for a golf tournament at Malone Golf Club in Northern Ireland.
The weather remained calm for a friendly game of golf in the afternoon, followed by an evening of dinner and drinks in Malone’s smart clubhouse.
The purpose of the day, according to David Reaney, managing director at Southern Cross, was to gather together a group of friends and colleagues for a ‘good day of sport and fun’.
David said: ‘Dentists are so used to meeting up in a dental environment, so we wanted to do something slightly different, something hands-off and away from work. There’s no educational component – rather a chance to get away and meet friends.’
Prizes were awarded to the golfers with the best scores on the day. First prize went to Eamon McCann, a dentist from Dungannon, with a winning score of 37 points.
Second prize went to Mark Lenny from Diamond Dental Clinic in Cookstown, with a score of 34 points. Friend and guest of Southern Cross, Oonagh Haran, achieved third place with a score of 33 points.
The ‘nearest the pin’ prize was won by Mark Lenny and the ‘longest drive’ prize was won by Rory McEnhill from Belmore Dental Studio and Implant Clinic.
Commenting on the event, Gary Nelson, director at Quality Plan, said: ‘It was absolutely first class – what a lovely day to spend with good friends, and great banter!’
Dentist Mel Currie from Currie and Gribben Dental Surgery in Armagh, added: ‘I had a brilliant day. It was good to see friends, do a good bit of golfing and just have a laugh.’
It was also the first day Southern Cross marked the appearance of its new rebrand.
David adds: ‘Having been established in Ireland for over a decade, we wanted to create a fresh new look for the company.
‘Our core business remains the same – our quality remains consistent, we simply wanted a fresh, simplistic look that brings us forward into the future.’
Southern Cross Dental will be unveiling its new rebrand in early May.
