Oral health education drive continues

by Guy Hiscott

The second edition of the Oral Health Zone magazine was launched at the IDA annual general meeting in Cavan.

The development of the magazine is one of a number of initiatives undertaken by DeCare to enhance and improve oral health awareness among Irish consumers attending dental practices in Ireland.

‘When it comes to understanding oral health issues, it is important that the public has access to accurate and up to date information. That’s why we feel it is essential to provide in depth information on oral health topics, both for our members and the general public,’ said Dr Gerard Gavin, DeCare’s chief dental officer.

The Oral Health Zone magazine has been developed as a quality, informative dental waiting room magazine and was first launched in January 2011.

It is distributed free of charge to dental practices throughout Ireland for display in waiting rooms as an educational resource for patients.

Edel Jordan, communication manager for DeCare, commented: ‘We received a very positive response from dental practices following the launch of the first edition of the magazine. We gathered all relevant feedback to help us shape the second edition of the magazine, with the aim of providing unbiased, useful and easily absorbed oral health information for the public.’

The second edition of the Oral Health Zone magazine contains articles, tips and advice on a range of key topics, including oral health cleaning methods and products, the wisdom on wisdom teeth, treating cavities in permanent teeth, practical tips on how to handle a dental emergency, oral health care for children and much more…

The Oral Health Zone magazine is available to all dentists to display in their waiting rooms. To request additional copies for your surgery, contact DeCare’s customer service team on 094 93 72277 or email iedentists@decare.com.
