Calling all innovative dental students

by Guy Hiscott

3M ESPE is inviting all third year dental students in Ireland and the UK to enter its Award for Innovation, which recognises students’ ability to think beyond existing practices and technologies to envisage the future of dentistry.

To enter, submit up to 500 words describing your dental practice in the year 2020.

You will be judged on your ability to demonstrate an innovative approach, your consideration of future changes in general dentistry and your understanding of how the introduction of new technologies will help deliver better patient care.

• One winner from each university will receive €354 (£300) towards an elective programme or additional research project.

* All winning students will be invited to join leading figures in Irish and UK dentistry at 3M’s dedicated awards ceremony in March 2011.

* The winner of the National Award for Innovation will be selected from these winners and will receive a further €590 (£500) to support their studies.

* All finalists will receive a certificate.

For each university, the shortlist for the Award for Innovation will be drawn up by a 3M ESPE panel and the winner chosen by a designated tutor at the university.

The National Award for Innovation will be judged by an independent panel of leading dentistry experts.

Entry is open to all third-year dental students in Ireland and the UK. Submissions must be received before midnight on 31 January 2011.
