President’s girl wins Trinity scholarship

The President’s daughter, Emma McAleese, and fellow dental science student Hamed Fesharaki are celebrating their success as new Scholars of Trinity College Dublin.

Each receive a college room free of charge, free tuition fees and an annual salary of over 250 in recognition of the scholarship.

Scholars are elected annually in various subjects as the result of an examination held in Trinity term.

To herald the beginning of the annual Trinity Week, in total 83 scholarships were announced, along with three Honorary Fellows and 21 new Fellows. 

The announcement was made by the Provost of Trinity, Dr John Hegarty, surrounded by members of the Board of the College in full academic gowns on the steps of the Public Theatre. Students and staff celebrated the occasion with colleagues, friends and families in Front Square.
